This music was created in frustration at Australia's ongoing lack of action on climate change

Since I was about ten years old, I’ve been a huge fan of Black Sabbath, and, in particular, have a deep love for Tony Iommi’s extraordinary guitar riffs. A big question for me since I started playing the drums is “how can I explore riffs on the drums if I’m not a guitarist?”. I love the idea of the drums creating riff shapes, not beats that go with riffs, but riffs that offer the density and grain of distorted guitars, and are accompanied by “the beat” played on another instrument.The shapes in these songs are attempts to create grinding, granular riffs on the drums.

Also, this music was created out of frustration at the incomprehensible lack of action on climate change by Australia’s politicians. Sometimes I feel that I’ve been sedated by the endless scoffing, joking, and dismissiveness demonstrated by our “leaders” (it’s funny to use that word in regard to this issue) in the face of decades of unambiguous, rigorous peer reviewed research.
